After installation, the license information can be found at /etc/smgs/license.info, you can find in this file information about license user, expiry date, SMS throughput and target operation system.

Q: How much SMS throughput can SMGS handle ?

There's no theoric limit, the throughput depends on the hosting hardware performance and deployed architecture (load balancing cluster ..), on a very basic configuration (one server with 4Gb RAM and 32bit dual core CPU) you can easily reach about 100 SMS per second.
Tritux can support you in sizing and designing strong architectures to run SMGS at very high throughputs and highly available service as we have already deployed the gateway in many critical-mission platforms for telecom operators and VAS providers.

Q: Is it possible to install SMGS in a load-balancing or fail-over HA cluster ?

YES, SMGS runs as standard Linux system service and it can be set as a cluster service without headache, Tritux provides support for clustering SMGS.

Q: How can i monitor SMS traffic ?

SMGS comes with ready scripts to get monitored with Munin and Zabbix, these scripts can be found in /opt/smgs/extra/monitoring

Q: Where is SMGS log files ?

In /var/log/smgs you can find three log folders:

  • client/: Contains kannel's log files.
  • server/: Contains the SMPP server log files.
  • smgs-web/: Contains the web application log files.
